WA State-wide Log-on Log-off (LOLO) Project
As part of the statewide rollout of the WA Government’s Log-on Log-off Project, Marine Rescue Cockburn (MRC) is transitioning to using a log-on log-off management system powered by Deckee.
What is Deckee?
Deckee is a free phone app for recreational boaters, designed to improve marine safety. It lets you plan trips, check weather, and save your favourite spots. From early 2026, you will be able to log-on and log-off directly with Marine Rescue, anywhere in the state, via the Deckee app. This new in-app LOLO functionality is a WA Government project, led by DFES, implemented by Deckee.

What’s changing about logging on and logging off?
When you log-on, you tell us:
-
How many people are onboard
-
What vessel you’re on (DoT rego)
-
Where you’re going; and
-
When you’ll be back
That’s the minimum we require.
Nothing changes in the log-off . When you log-off, you let us know you’ve returned safely.
As part of the WA State-wide LOLO Project rollout, all Marine Rescue groups in WA are now required to collect some additional information during log-ons:
-
Your phone number
-
If you have a radio on board and what kind
-
The type of vessel your operating
Once you’ve provided these details, we’ll store them in the system so you don’t have to repeat them every time, no matter which Marine Rescue group you log-on with. Pretty cool!

Why is Marine Rescue Cockburn using Deckee?
Deckee is part of a DFES led statewide project to:
-
Make logging-on and off faster and easier
-
Modernise and standardise marine safety across WA
-
Reduce the need for repeated info via radio or phone
-
Let you log-on and log-off yourself via the app (coming early 2026!)
But don’t worry, this doesn’t replace radio or phone log-ons or log-offs. MRC will continue to be on watch 24/7 across VHF and phone as usual.

In the future, once the public-facing app LOLO functionality is live, anyone in WA will be able to log-on via Deckee, even outside the operating hours of local marine groups, and even if they’re out of radio range, via the Deckee app (if they have access to service), and we think that’s a big win for marine safety!

Do I have to use the app?
Not yet, and you never have to.

Right now, with MRC, you can only log-on and log-off by radio or phone, just like always. The difference is, we’ll now be recording your details in the Deckee system on our end.

From 2026, you’ll also have the option to log-on and log-off yourself through the app, but only if you want to.

A few Marine Rescue groups recently trialled the public Deckee log-on functionality, so you might have had a sneak peek if you logged on with one of those groups earlier this year!

Is Deckee secure?
Deckee is built to meet Australian privacy and data security standards.

Will my fishing spots be shared?
Your locations are not shared by Marine Rescue with anyone outside of marine safety organisations, and then they're only used for marine safety purposes.

If you're using the Deckee app with a personal Deckee user account, you control what location data is shared, and with whom. The Marine Rescue log-on features are separate from the journey planning functionality currently in Deckee.
